Elizabeth Schwyzer

Elizabeth Schwyzer is a journalist, essayist, writing coach, and educator based in Santa Barbara, California. Her articles and essays have appeared in newspapers, magazines, and literary journals in the U.K., Asia, and the U.S. She serves as an arts writer on staff at The Santa Barbara Independent.

As a coach and consultant, Elizabeth helps writers launch new projects and guides them through the writing process.

A former professional dancer and an active athlete, Elizabeth is interested in writing that captures the physicality of the human experience. In her workshops for adults and teens, she combines writing prompts and movement exercises, helping students access their innate creativity.

Elizabeth is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and of the Bennington Writing Seminars, where she earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Writing and Literature in 2013.

    i met elizabeth through co-facilitating a coming of age program many years ago and my life has been more meaningful since that connection. i think elizabeth’s synergy of integrity, presence, compassion, and creativity, that is sparked by her openness to learn and grow, is unique. precious. and valuable. she has so many gifts and she shares them with inspiration. i highly recommend her for youth coaching. and really anything she puts her mind/body to. go girl!
